America 250: Celebrate 250 Years of Independence in Grainger County
Grainger County Chamber of Commerce and GC Parks and Rec. invites you to join us at The Nance House and the Grainger County Courthouse in Rutledge, Tennessee for our 3rd Annual Independence Celebration on Friday, July 3rd, from 5:30 PM to 10 PM.
In 2026, America celebrates a milestone unlike any other — 250 years of independence. Grainger County is proud to join communities across the nation in honoring this historic anniversary with a special America 250 Independence Celebration on Friday, July 3rd, from 5:30 PM to 10:00 PM in downtown Rutledge.
This year’s event also marks a meaningful local milestone: Grainger County turns 230 years old. Together, these anniversaries create a powerful moment to reflect on our shared history, honor the generations who came before us, and celebrate the community we continue to build today.
🎉 A Celebration Rooted in History & Community
Beginning at 5:30 PM, families and friends are invited to enjoy an evening filled with hometown pride and patriotic spirit. The celebration includes:
Food trucks serving festival favorites
Kids’ activities and lawn‑friendly fun
Community booths and information tables
Plenty of space to gather, visit, and enjoy the evening
To honor both America’s 250th and Grainger County’s 230th anniversaries, we will also feature:
Local historians on site sharing stories and answering questions
Select historic buildings open for visitors to explore and learn more about our county’s past
These elements create a meaningful connection between our national story and our own local heritage.
🎈 Kid Zone by Clinch-Powell at Friendship Park
Families can enjoy a dedicated Kid Zone hosted by Clinch-Powell, located in Friendship Park at The Nance House. This family‑friendly area will include:
Movie in the Park
Outdoor games and activities
A relaxed space for kids to play while adults enjoy the celebration
Friendship Park provides the perfect setting for children to have fun safely while being part of the America 250 festivities.
🎶 Live Music on the Courthouse Patio
Enjoy live music from Billy Sales and the Double Barrel Band, performing on the Historic Grainger County Courthouse Patio.
Their mix of country, rock, and Americana sets the perfect tone for an evening celebrating 250 years of American independence and 230 years of Grainger County history.
Bring a chair, grab a spot on the lawn, and enjoy the music in the heart of downtown Rutledge.
Patriotic Parade at 8 PM
At 8:00 PM, the celebration continues with our Patriotic Parade, led by Grainger County veterans.
The parade will feature:
Decorated vehicles
Community groups
Local organizations
Families showing their America 250 spirit
It’s a highlight of the evening and a heartfelt tribute to the meaning of Independence Day.

📸 America 250 Photo Booth: The Old Blue Truck
New this year, guests can capture their America 250 memories at our patriotic photo booth, featuring a vintage old blue truck set against a classic white picket fence.
The booth includes:
Red, white, and blue decorations
Seasonal flowers and lanterns
A cozy seating area
It’s the perfect backdrop for celebrating 250 years of American independence and 230 years of Grainger County history.
🎇 Fireworks at 10 PM
The night concludes with a spectacular America 250 fireworks show at 9:30 PM.
Fireworks are proudly presented by Energy Electric Inc., with the help of Grainger County Parks and Recreation.
Bring a blanket or lawn chair and enjoy the grand finale as the sky lights up in honor of our nation’s 250th birthday.
