Cherokee Lake (TVA Shorelines & Public Access Areas)
Overview:
Cherokee Lake is one of the premier bird watching destinations in East Tennessee, especially during winter and migration seasons. Its open water, mudflats, and wooded shoreline attract waterfowl, raptors, and shorebirds throughout the year. Winter months are particularly rewarding for spotting bald eagles and diving ducks. The wide shoreline and multiple access points make it ideal for both casual observers and serious birders.

Public Access Directions:
Access via public boat ramps and shoreline areas near Rutledge and Bean Station. Multiple Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) access points are available off Highway 11W and Highway 92.
